SPECIALIZED DIVISIONS - BUREAUS
Jail Bureau
Fairfield County Jail Facilities, Mr. Phil Johnson, Administrator.
This facility was built in 1966 and is a medium - maximum level security
facility. All male prisoners charged with violent and serious offenses are
booked and housed in this facility. In 2010 the Main Jail had an average daily
population of 83 male prisoners. This facility's maximum rated capacity set by
the state is 26 prisoners.

Patrol Bureau
Lieutenant Tim Voris is the Patrol Bureau Commander.
The Patrol Bureau also provides support to the other villages and cities in the
county that have their own law enforcement agencies: Baltimore, Carroll,
Columbus, Lancaster, Lithopolis, Millersport, Pickerington, Reynoldsburg and
Sugar Grove.

Investigation Bureau
Sergeant Alex Lape is the Detective Bureau Commander.
Detective Bureau is responsible for initiating and conducting criminal
investigations into crimes of violence, such as murder, assault, and robbery, as
well as property-related crimes, such as burglary and theft.

Sergeant Marc Churchill Communications Bureau Supervisor.
Communications Bureau is responsible for dispatching the Sheriff’s Office, 11
volunteer Township Fire Departments, and 5 village Police Departments; it
receives 9-1-1 emergency calls and non-emergency calls.

Community Services, Sgt. Marian DeVault.
Community Services are responsible for all Press Releases and Public Appearances
for the Sheriff's Office. Other responsibilities include Neighborhood Watch
Programs, Community Policing, Public Education in Safety.

Civil Services and Fiscal Services Bureau
The Sheriff’s Office consolidated three areas: Civil Services, Fiscal
Services and Human Resources for the Sheriff’s Office to create the Civil
Service Section.
